FANCY DRESS DANCES
PLUNKET SOCIETY- AFFAIRS The annual fancy dress balls held in Matamata for adults and children were most successful functions. Excellent music was provided by Holland’s Orchestra, and extras were contributed by Misses G. Ansford, J. Turner and P. Whitworth. Messrs G. Fitzgerald and IT. Hitchcock carried out the duties of M.C. Prizes were awarded as follows: Adults:—Ladies: Miss fc. Baker (Welsh girl) 1, Miss V. Fussey (Eastern lady) 2, Miss D. Jones (cigarettes) 3. Men: Mr. H. Burton (black orpington rooster). Children: Jean Gordon and Betty Turkington (twin flits), Gladys Johnson (eastern princess), Abee Were (early Victorian), Norma Were (golden butterfly), David Re Renzy (pirate), Keith Smith (chef), Marie Stewart (All Black), Phil Stubbings (tennis), Norma Delaney and Reg Smith (Adam and Eve); Quona Turner (butterfly queen), Ailsa Brown (columbine), Dora Grans wick and Kathleen Simpson (Jack and Jill)'. Gertrude Smith (Miss 1925), Edith Prowse (eat more fruit), Alma Barnes (Irish girl), dim Delaney (bowser), Noel Darby (parcel), Lionel Montague (huntsman), The judging was carried out by Mrs. Barkman and Sister Harris (adults), and Mesdames Robertson (Rotorua), Brown (Okoroire) and F. Rose (Tirau) in the children’s section.
