Making Haste Too Slowly
COMPLAINT AT GENEVA League and Armaments Riddle NOT ENOUGH SECURITY There is a Lone complaint at Geneva that despite the peace pacts that have been signed, the League is still unable to present a sufficient degree of security to tackle disarmament. The League s old slogan of “Hasten slowly” seems to be the reply to this criticism. (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) (United Service)
Becd. noon. LONDON, Wednesday." * Dr. Wang at the League ot Nations Assemly, voiced China’s keen desire to co-opreate with the League toward a peace basis for western civilisation, which they valued as an assurance of China’s stability within jueasureable distance. China wished to remove all bartiers to full concord in the world, and to this end some revision of treaties yas desired. A Swedish delegate, Dr. U. T. t'nden, vigorously expresesd disappointment that, despite the Versailles,
Locarno, and the Kellogg Pacts, they were unable to assure the impatient peoples of a sufficient degree of security to achieve or tackle disarmament, to which the ever-increasing obstacles were exasperating. He hoped the Assembly would bend its energies to their removal. The Dutchman, Jonkheer Beelaerts Van Blokland, thought the League should be gratified at the Kellogg Pact and the Franco-British naval agreement, both steps enabling it to approach disarmament in an atmosphere devoid of scepticism.
