NORTHCOTE HIGH SCHOOL

MEETING OF COMMITTEE The committee of the Xorthcote Junior High School held its monthly meeting last evening. Mr. J. P. McPhail presiding. The headmaster, Mr. W. J. Wernham, reported an average attendance of 269. S for the month, the roll-num-ber being 287. A sum of £ 5 was voted toward the library, and it was decided to apply for a subsidy on this amount. In response to a letter from the Education Board for a contribution toward the school ground improvement fund, £25 was voted from the special fund. The committee took strong exception to the headmaster holding a children’s fancy dress dance recently to raise, funds for the school without its consent. The following resolution was passed, a copy of which is to be sent to the headmaster: “This committee regrets that a function was held in Birkenhead recently for the purpose of raising funds for the Junior High School, without any reference having been made to the school committee, and requests that all future public functions held for raising funds for the school must first be sanctioned by the committee.”
