GENERAL AVERAGE DECLARED ON PORT NAPIER’S CARGO

Recent advice received by the Farmers’ Co-operative AuctioneeringCompany states that the damage to the cargo of the C. and D. Line steamer Port Napier recently, was much greater than at first expected. Consequently a general average of 30 per cent, has been declared on the ship’s cargo. Although not yet reported as having left Suva, the Port Napier is expected to arrive at Auckland on Monday next.
