COMMUNITY SINGING

LAST DAY AT STRAND THEATRE At community singing in the Strand Theatre this afternoon, the chief performer was, by kind permission of the Fuller-Hayward Company, Ltd., Miss Nell Crane. She sang ‘‘The Bush Cinderella,” and the composer of the song, Mr. Alfred Lawrence, accompanied her at the piano. Afret several encores, she sang- ‘‘l’ve Lost My Heart in Maoriland,” another of Mr. Lawrences’ songs, and later, “There’s a Little Maori Whare.” Under the leadership of Mi-. Archie Don the audience sang “Old Folks at Home,” “Mary Lou,” "Mother Machree,” and other songs. Mrs. G. Penfold sang two solos and was encored after both of them. Mrs. M. Osborne played the accompaniments. This is the last ordinary sing of the season, which will be wound up by a grand night sing in the Town Hall on September 11.
