Several interesting matches were contested, probably the most notable being that between Me Beth and Bellingham. The former, a scratch man, prevailed over his opponent on a two handicap by 2 and 1. Bellingham was 2 up at the turn and was playing good golf. Mcßeth played better over the last nine holes, which he covered in 33. The game was all square after the 15th. Going to the 16th both players pulled their tee shots. Mcßeth played an excellent second from an indifferent lie and finished about 9ft from the pin. He holed his putt for a three, which put him 1 up and a good four at the 17th won him the match. The pair then proceeded to the 18th, which is a five bogey, and Mcßeth created somewhat of a sensation by holing his second. Gerrand and Crimp had a very hard tussle, the match going to the 19th, at which hole Crimp lost his chance of a win by missing a foot putt. As is often the case, the player who returns the best qualifying score is defeated by the last to qualify. J. Horton having headed the qualifying round was defeated by W. M. Horton, junr., 5 and 4. Among the visitors to the links at the week-end was J. Black, who is now a resident of Otorohanga. He is playingwell at present, being especially good wi_th his wooden clubs. He played two rounds and was in the seventies on both occasions. The fairways at St. Andrew’s are now being top-dressed, which should do much to restore them to their usual good condition. INTER-CLUB MATCHES The match between the Otahuliu and Everslie Golf Clubs, played on the Everslie links, resulted in a draw, six games all. Some very fine golf was witnessed on the course, which is in exceptionally good order. Members of the Everslie Ladies’ Club provided afternoon tea. A match will be played against Glendowie at Everslie on Saturday next. Following is the draw: J. Dykes v. J. O’Neill; 11. Carson v. A. G. Smith; R. O’Neill v. C. Beeehey; P. Hogan v. J. Rhind; C.
