Piper .who is at present in Palmerston North, is returning to Auckland on Wednesday. The Bev. Lionel Fletcher left for Wellington by the Limited last ingThe Rev. C. Hoskin was a passenger for Wellington last evening by the Limited. The Hon. C. J. Carrington. M.L.C., returned to Wellington last evening by* the Limited. Mr. H. W. Petty, chief engineer, Stemol, Ltd., London, arrived by the Ulimaroa from Sydney this morning. Mr. R. Shepard, New Zealand manager for J. C. Williamson Films, Ltd., arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa this morning. Mr. J. V. Moran, sales manager of the Palm Olive Company, arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa this morning. Mr. Percy Hutchison arrived with his company from Sydney by the Ulimaroa. He is staying at the Grand Hotel. Mr. E. J. Gravestock, who is presenting the young pianist, Shura Cherkassy, in New Zealand, arrived from Sydney by the Ulimaroa this morning. Mr. H. H. Dare, who has come to Auckland to investigate the watersupply question, arrived by the Ulimaroa from Sydney this morning. Mr. W. Head, of Hastings, wellknown in trotting circles as private trainer to the Hawke’s Bay sportsman, Mr. J. H. Lloyd, is spending a short holiday in Auckland. Dr. H. R. Hemmen, a member of the German Foreign Office, arrived by the Ulimaroa this morning to begin a short tour of the North Island. He is accompanied by Mrs. Hemmen. Mr. John Phillips; manager of Chipmans (N.Z.), Ltd., arrived this morning by the Ulimaroa. He leaves by the Makura on the 11th inst. on an extended business visit to the United States, England and the Continent. Mr. W. H. Cowper, New Zealand manager for the Liverpool and London and Globe Insurance Company, returned by the Ulimaroa this morning after a visit to Australia to meet Mr. •J. D. Simpson, assistant general manager of the company, who had arrived from England. The Rev. A. M. Niblock, who has been honorary secretary of the Auckland Advertising Club for 18 months, has resigned his position. At the club’s luncheon to-day, the president, Mr. A. H. Lees, expressed regret at the resignation and said he did not know where members were going to find such' an able officer.
