Figures for 6 Months Show Increase on 1927 In the first halt of this year the car sales in New Zealand were 6,486, an increase of 157 on the total for the same period of 1927. For April, May and June, 1928, increases were recorded over the same months for last year, and it appears that an average of 1,000 cars a month might be maintained this year. Following are details of the new car sales for the three half-yearly periods:

If 176 cars of unknown make be excluded from the sales for the half-year, it appears that 19 enumerated British makes account for 1,236 sales, or 191 per cent, of the named total. In the corresponding period of last year British cars numbered 974, a share of 152 per cent. Following are details of sales in the six months, January-June, 1928:

The Manawatu Automobile Club lias been formed with a membership of 500. Headquarters are at Palmerston North. This district has been part of the Wellington Automobile Club’s area, but there has been a feeling in the Manawatu that a separate club would be more satisfactory.
