BOOT COMPANY HAS SUCCESSFUL YEAR

At the annual meeting of the Northern Boot and Shoe Manufacturing Company. Ltd., yesterday. the 47 th annual balance-sheet was presented. This showed that the net profit for the past year was £625 19s 4d. bringing the total credit on the profit and loss account to £3,057 14s 2d. "The company is now in a strong financial position,” reported the directors. " and in order to conserve this position we recommend that no dividend be paid this year, but that the. profit be carried forward.” The chairman, Mr. W. P. Wins tone, acting for Mr. G. Winstone, chairman of directors, remarking on the proposal to pay no dividend, said that the directors would also forego their honorarium. In view of the past year having been recognised in business circles as a bad one. the fact that sales had been well maintained reflected credit on the company and staff.
