CYCLES’ UNLUCKY DAY

TWO BADLY SMASHED RIDERS ESCAPE INJURY (From Our Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, Sunday. Two bicycles were smashed in collisions which occurred in Dargaville yesterday. The first collision took place at the Bank Square in the morning, when a new car, driven by Dr. Israel, of the gum extraction works. Babylon, came into contact with a bicycle ridden by Mr. Gerald Dunn. Mr. Dunn was thrown clear and escaped injury, but the car ran over the bicycle, which was considerably damaged. Shortly after 6 o'clock a motor-cyclist. Mr. Colin MacDonald, an employee of the Northern Wairoa Dairy Company, Mangawhare. was riding into Dargaville. when a collision occurred between his cycle and a motor-lorry, driven by Mr. P. Martin. Mr. MacDonald was also thrown clear and escaped unhurt, although his cycle was damaged to some extent.
