HENDERSON WINS CYCLE ROAD-TEST

AUCKLAND-PAPAKURA RACE

A record attendance at the finish of the Auckland Athletic and Cycling Club’s Papakura race, and big fields starting in all events at Mangere, wei:.e the features of Saturday’s cycle road racing. Weather conditions were hard, a strong varying wind trying riders, particularly in the Papakura race.

In the Manukau Club’s 11-mile open event the finish was so close that the judges had difficulty in separating the placed riders, while in the two other events the wiftners won as they liked. Following are the results: Auckland Athletic and Cycling Club’s race to Papakura and back, — J. Henderson, 4min, 1; T. Kennelly, 9min, 2; P. Rickman, 7min, 3; J. Lindop, 2min, 4. Time, lhr 29min 13sec. Fastest time, F. Prior, scr., lhr 18min 45sec. There were 23 starters. Won by 20 lengths, 10 lengths separating second and third. Manukau Amateur Cycling Club’s s;§-mile junior race.—C. Francis, 30sec, 1; S. Pinfold,. 3min, 2; W. Smithson, 2min, 3. Time of winner, 15min 40sec. Fastest time, D. Hope, scr., 15min 36sec. Eleven riders started; won by 10 lengths, two lengths separating second and third.

Eleven-mile open handicap. N. Fisher, 2min 30sec, 1; F. E. Pinker, 3min, 2; S. Baird, 2min 30sec, 3. Time of winner, 29min 21sec. Fastest time, J. H. Wade, scr., 29min. Thirty-six riders started; won by inches, same between second and third.
