BANANA SUPPLIES

PROSPECTS ARE BRIGHTER COLD weather in Fiji accounted for the fact that the Tofua’s shipment of bananas for New Zealand was not as large as might have been expected. She arrived this morning with 13,500 cases. According to two passengers — Mr. G. S. Radley, of Radley & Co., and Mr,. Harvey Turner, of Turners and Growers —future shipments promise to be large, and the year a good one. “Were it not for the bad weather, the Tofua would be carrying 17,000’ cases,” said Mr. Radley. “Prospects are good, and from now on the shipments should increase steadily from 16,000 cases to about 22,000 cases in December.” Mr. Turner said that the crops promised to be big for October, November and December, and the quantities shipped should be increased considerably.
