Sir George Elliot returned to Auckland this morning after a visit to Wellington. The Kev. G. W. Lochore, Presbyterian minister at Whangarei, has received a call from Feilding. jj r . L. J. Blake, president of the Northlands Trotting Club, is staying at the Albert Hotel. The Hon. Sir Frederic Lang, M.L.C., and the Hon. C. J. Carrington, M.L.C., arrived in Auckland from Wellington this morning. Mr. Thomas Casement Aicken lias been admitted a solicitor of the Supreme Court by Mr. Justice Reed, on the motion of Mr. T. N. Holmden. Mr. Arthur P. Cowie, a inissioner 'among seamen in the city, suffered a heart attack on Wednesday evening, and is conlined to bed indefinitely. The Rev. It. C. Roberts, 8.A., 13.E>., of Cardiff, Wales, has accepted the call to the pastorate of the Mount Eden Congregational Church. He is a brilliant scholar and preacher, and will arrive in Auckland early in November. Mr. Allan Evans, for many years connected with the stock and land departments of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., has resigned, In order to start business on his own account at Otahuhu. Mr. G. Furn, presides# of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association, who has been to Dunedin and also visited the exhibition at Christchurch, is at present in Wellington.
