A drowning fatality occurred at Kitaia yesterday, when a four-yar-old child, Clive Kenning, son o Mr. Harry Kenning, an emPDyee of the Mangonui County Cuncil, was drowned in the Kaitia river. lo child and his two-year-old broh<| wandered off without knowledge C fhe mother, who was attracted by hacryingr of the younger child. On to the river-bank she found hdbhild’s hat floating. The river has >e3 dragged and several friends have i‘i3 diving, but the river is swollen nfmuddy with recent rains, and the >o# has not been recovered. 4rs. Kenning is seriously ill from hepiiock.
