DAFFODIL DAY
SUCCESS OF APPEAL The Daffodil Day appeal of the Victoria League yesterday resulted in £ 549 being collected. The appeal was organised by Miss Mowbray, president of the league. Half of th eproceeds will go to organisations devoted to the interests of young people and the other half to the Victoria League, to assist in the work during the coming year. Details of the collections are as follow:—Victoria League, Newmarket (Mrs. Hadfield), £l2 19s 4d; Young Citizens’ League, £9 10s Id; S.P.C.A., £ll 10s 3d; Navy League, £l4 2s lid; Society, £8 19s 9d; Query Club, £l2 11s 4d; Victoria League Ever Ready, £B2 17s 6d; Victoria League Girls, £2O 8s 4d: Victoria League (Mrs. Worrall and Mrs. Williams), £29 14s Id; Girl Guide Association, £35 Ss 4d; St. John Ambulance, £l6 3s 3d; Free Kindergarten, £24 Ss 3d; Victoria League (Mrs. Bullock and Misses Murray. £lO 8s Sd; Victoria League (Miss Keesing and room box), £9 14s; Boy Scouts’ Association, £250 Is lOd. Returns from the Oneliunga Kindergarten, and from the Boy Scout stalls at Bayswater and Ellerslie are not yet available. FAREWELL PARTY In the Cabin Tearooms, on Thursday, some of Mr. Frank Sanft’s friends gave a party in his honour, when an enjoyable time was spent in dancing and competitions. Miss Dorrie Stych and Mr. C. Austin won the prizes. Music was supplied by Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Ron Downes. Miss Doris Menzies, who acted as hostess, wore a frock of peach taffeta, with uneven hem. Among those present were: Miss Edna Ashwin, black taffeta and black painted shawl. Mrs. Johnson, black beaded georgette with scarlet flower. Miss Dorrie Stych cyclamen taffeta and diamante. Miss Julie Menzies, ivory georgette, with wine shawl. PAPATOETOE FIRE BRIGADE CARD EVENING i™ A tt ei D enjoyable card party was held by the Papatoetoe Fire Brigade, in the supper room of the Papatoetoe Town -Hall, on Thursday evening:. There was a fair attendance, and some verv keen games were played. The winners were.-Eadies.
