“DIVINE WOMAN” AT BRITANNIA
“Divine Woman,” Greta aGrbo’s great emotional story, will be shown at the Britannia Theatre this evening. Miss Garbo carries her role magnificently from the opening sequences as a peasant girl and a helper in a laundry to the heights which she achieves as the darling of Paris’s theatrical world, and back again to her tawdry surroundings in the Montmartre. Lars Hanson gives a remarkable performance as a French soldier who deserts his regiment and is sent to prison, while Lowell Sherman gives an excellent portrayal of the role of the theatrical impresario who gives his “protection” to the star. “We’re All Gamblers,” a story of life in a great city, starring Thomas Meighan, will also be shown. With the addition of Marceline Day to the cast of “A Single Man.” the cast of this new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer costarring vehicle for Lew Cody and Aileen Pringle has been completed. Harry Beaumont is directing, and Edward Nugent, Kathlyn Williams, Aile n Manning. Ruth Holly and Robert Bolder have prominent parts.
