FEWER UNEMPLOYED A slight decrease in the number of unemployed is shown by figures supplied by the Labour Department this A total of 829 men is registered, compared with 844 last week. Of this week’s number 701 men are classed as fit for heavy work and 12S as suitable for light work only. The previous week’s figures were 700 and 144 respectively. During the week 40 men were placed in work, compared with 50 for the week ending August 25.
