FOOTBALL DANCE
ST. HELIERS CLUB PRESENTATION MADE The annual dance of the St. Heliers | Rugby Football Club was held in the ! Peerless Hall last evening, when about ] 200 guests were present. Excellent | music was supplied by Bendall's Dance i Orchestra. I During the evening Mr. Vere Hunt was presented with a travelling case in recognition of his services to the club. Mr. C. Lovegrove, president, who made the presentation, eulogised Mr. Hunt, and conveyed the thanks of the players and friends for his very excellent work as secretary and selector. JAPANESE FAIR TAKAPUNA METHODISTS Tester day the Gaiety Theatre. Takapuna, was charmingly decorated in Japanese style for the annual fair of the Takapuna Methodist Church. The stalls were covered with branches of green bamboo and from these were hung cherry blossoms and chrysanthemums. Japanese fans and signs hung above each stall and the hall was festooned with paper streamers. A miniature bridge, hung with wistaria, was placed on the stage and on this a number of small Japanese maidens paraded, singing national songs. The Mayoress, Mrs. J. W. Williamson, opened the function in the afternoon. Business was brisk, and toward the end of the evening little was left on the stalls. The stallholders were: Work stall: Mrs. Prior, Mrs. Hinton, Airs. sen., Mrs. Petty and Miss Fleming. Apron stall: Mrs. Sinclair, Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Gittos. Cakes:' Mrs. Foreman, Mrs. Souster and Miss Roper. Produce: Mrs. Arthur, Mrs. Melville and Miss ID. Arthur. Novelties: Mrs. J. R. Johnston and Senior Bible Class Girls. Handkerchiefs: Airs. J. Davis. Sweets: Airs. Billett, Airs. Robinson and Airs. Lewis. Refreshments: Misses - Gittos. Flowers: Aliss Cammell and Aliss Tremain. Japanese fish pond: Airs. Styles, jun., and Junior Bible Class Girls. Tea room: Airs. G. Collins, Airs. Everiss, Mrs. Roper, Airs. Reed, Airs. Tremain, Airs. Rogers, Airs. Cameron, Airs. W. Collins, Airs. Lushby, Airs. Lusk, Aliss Grant, Aliss Wilson and girls of the Intermediate Bible Class. Aliss B. Arthur and Aliss Gunson, in conjunction with the men’s committee, were responsible for the decoration.
