RIALTO AND REGENT, EPSOM
“BABY MINE” One of the enjoyable comedies by Karl Dane and George K. Arthur. "Baby Mine.” wilt be shown at the Rialto and Regent (Epsom) Theatres this evening. Adapted from the brilliant stage comedy, the screen version' of “Baby Mine” is just one laugh after another. The Bane-Arthur combina- ■ tion is enriched by the addition of i Charlotte Greenwood, a musical comedy J star, who adds a heap of shrieks to a rollicking story. The trio is responsible for an hour’s chuckles, giggles, laughs, and guffaws. The courtship of Oswald and Emma (Karl Dane and Charlotte Greenwood) is the finest bit of burlesque wooing ever staged, as are the complications occasioned by •a battalion of babies, borrowed and stolen from protesting parents. The “inner secrets” of a college of physical culture also provide comedy of the highest order. Harry Earles, the midget who appeared with Lon Chaney in ’The Unholy Three.” also appears in “Baby Mine,” and creates storms of laughter at the end of the picture, when he is discovered in a baby’s pram, with a ! cigar resting on his bib. to the aston- j ishment of a much-deceived “father.” “Paid to Love,” a dramatic story starring Virginia Valii and George O'Brien, will also be shown. Eddie Phillips, the screen actor, got his start in motion pictures by posing as an Italian type for one of Mary Pickford’s productions. He remained in the movies after this hoax, never having to worry about his next job. Phillips is now appearing in a supporting role to Laura La Plante, Universal’s new blonde star, in “Finders Keepers.” Others in the supporting cast are Edmund Breese, Arthur Rankin. William Gordon, Eddie Phillips, and Joe Mack. Wesley Buggies directed from the Mary Roberts Rinehart story of the same name.
