MAILS SPEEDED UP SAVING OF TWO DAYS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) PARIS, Thursday. The liner lie de France saved trvo days in the delivery of the eastward transatlantic mail service by means of an airplane. The machine shot into the air at a speed of 60 miles an hour when the vessel was 150 miles west of the Scilly Islands. Notwithstanding the bad weather at the time the scheme worked excellently. The plane was refuelled at Cherbourg, and then proceedd to Paris. An extra charge of Is 8d for each letter is made. The scheme is to be applied to other French liners.
