SICILIAN VENDETTA
ALARM IN QUEENSLAND HANDY WITH FIREARMS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) BRISBANE, Friday. Concern is felt at Cairns, Queensland, about the frequency of shooting cases around the Innisfail sugar-grow-ing district, where many Sicilians are farming. The murder of Alfio Patana, who was ambushed at his home a fortnight ago, has aroused the public to the necessity of prohibiting foreigners the possession of firearms. Most of the Sicilians know very little of the English language, and investigations by the police are thus rendered difficult. However, it has been fairly established that Patana’s death was the outcome of a vendetta.
