MAY McAVOY SPEAKS IN VITAPHONE FILM

THE first feminine film star to x talk for the cinema is May McAvoy, who will appear in the Vitaphone talking pictures “The Jazz Singer” and “T h e Lion and the Mouse.” She is to try her luck in a stage role. She speaks lines for Vitaphone in “T he Lion and the Mouse.” She is the first feminine star, incidentally, to talk for the the cinema, and is said to have been chosen because the tone qualities of her voice blend with the synchronising device. Now she will try a speaking role on the stage. Edward Everett Horton, screen and stage comedian, and Hollywood legitimate producer, is seeking coast rights to a successful comedy drama now showing in New York. Miss McAvoy and Horton will be costarred at a Los Angeles theatre.
