PUFF AND LIPSTICK
THE NEW SUBSTITUTES Powder puffs are ‘‘disappearing from circulation,” as they say in Paris. Instead of dabbing at her face with the once übiquitous circlet of swansdown, the smart woman now applies a powder lotion with a sponge before she sets out for the day’s activities: and the treatment lasts all day. Or. alternatively, she uses one of the vanishing creams that leave a powdered effect. Similarly, the erstwhile universal lipstick is giving place to a trim little book of reddened leaves made from beet juice. A leaf is simply torn out of the book and nibbed over the lips, leaving a smooth and naturallooking redness.
