“THE GOOSE GIRL” “The Goose Girl,” the comic opera so successfully produced recently by the Patrician Operatic Society, has been revived, the first performance of the new season being given in His Majesty’s Theatre last evening. The production, which is Sir Alfred ScottGatty’s in modernised form, is full of subtle Gilbertian humour and sweet music. The ballets are excellent, and the choruses full of volume and precision. The part of Lady Di, the heroine, is played in the revival by Miss Elvy Syms, who has a s>veet voice and strong acting ability. The remainder of the well-balanced cast does its work extremely well. “The Goose Girl” will be produced finally this evening. “TURKISH DELIGHT” AT ROYAL ‘ Turkish Delight,” a merry comedy of a man who inherits a harem, wall be shown this evening at the Royal Theatre, Kingsland, with Joseph Schildkraut and Kenneth Thomson in the leading roles. Thomson has the part of a young American who meets Zelma (Julia Faye) aboard a steamship and falls in love with her. She is the beautiful niece of Hassan, a rug-.dealer in New York, played by Mr. Schildkraut, and is accompanying him to Constantinople where he is to take possession of a harem he has inherited. “For the Term of his Natural Life,” the great Australian-made picture of the early days of the convict settlements, will also be shown. DIXIELAND CABARET Dancing will be enjoyed at the Dixieland Cabaret again this evening when the usuai Saturday Gala Carnival will be held. Music for dancing on the perfect Dixieland floor will be supplied by the I Dixieland Famous Dance Band. *pn» The Dixlelan d Band will feature Ramona” and “When You Played tha Organ and I Sang ‘The Rosary’.’’ Richard Arlen plays the role of a tramp in “Beggars of Life,” Paramount s screen version of the popular story by Jim Tully. William Wellman has been selected as the director for the picture.
