BUNKERING PORT
WHANGAREI URGES CLAIMS
(From Our Own Correspondent) WHANGAREI, To-day.
The movement to make Whangarei a coal-bunkering port was advanced another step last evening, when the chairmen of the whole of the local bodies of the district passed a resolution urging the Minister of Railways to place 100 wagons on the North Auckland railway for the transportation of coal where required. An influential deputation was appointed to accompany the member for the district when waiting on the Minister. Betters received by the Harbour Board from oversea campanies shipping to A u . cklan<i showed that as soon as facilities are provided ships would be taken to bunker here. Coal supplies are of great extent.
