Market Buoyant

Steady Demand, for Bonds

A BUOYANT tone was registered in the market for all the more popular securities this morning. The volume of business, however, was not big.

Business yesterday afternoon. —On ’Change: Hikurangi Coal (ord.), 6s; Huddart-Parker, 49s 3d; Ohinemuri G. and Ss. Mining (pref.), 9s 6d. Reported: National Insurance, 16s 6d. N.Z. Refrigerating Coy. (con.), 9s 6d; Whit tome, Stevenson, 50s; N.Z. Government Loan, 61 p.e., 1933, £lOl 2s 6d; ditto, 1939, 4£ p.e., £99 ss. Business this morning. On ’Change: Taupiri Coal (ord.), 27s 6d; Kauri Timber, 20s 6d.

Banks and insurances are steady, most scrip meeting with a firm demand. In the loan and agency section, Goldsbrough, Morts are very firm, with no sellers, and buyers improved to 51s. Taupiri coals were dealt with this morning at 27s 6d, leaving sellers at 28s, supported by buyers at 27s 3d. The miscellaneous group is receiving greater attention, with the general tendency upward.

HOBSON FARM FRIESIANS

THIRD ANNUAL SALE The third annual sale of pedigree Friesian dairy cattle by Hobson Farm. Ltd., was held at Wharepapa, Helen sville, on Thursday, and attracted a good attendance of buyers. The highest price of the day was 100 guineas, paid by W. H. Turner, of Aongotete, for the 10-months-old bull, Hobson Zozo Champion, whose three nearest dams averaged 881.451 b of but-ter-fat. The yearling bull, Hobson Ensign Ollie, was purchased by Dalgety and C9mpany, Ltd., on behalf of a Brisbane client, for 95 guineas. The highest price for a heifer was 60 guineas, paid by W. H. Madill, of Ivohimarama, for Hobson Princess Pontiac 2nd. The heifer, Hobson Maplewood Zozo, was purchased by W. A. Maria, of Kait:*ia, for 56 guineas.
