BYRD FOR DUNEDIN
SAILS ON SATURDAY SOUTH POLE EXPEDITION (United P.A.—By Telegraph Copyright) (Australian and N.Z Press Association.) NEW YORK, Wednesday. Thirty-one members of Commander Richard Byrd’s Antarctic expedition will sail by the steamer City of New York on Saturday for Dunedin, New Zealand. The last member of the party to be chosen is Paul Siple, a 19-year-old Boy Scout. He will act as orderly to Commander Byrd. He was chosen from 1,000 applicants. The City of New York has taken on board 300 tons of coal and is packed with equipment for the expedition. The aircraft, which will be dispatched later, will consist of four planes, with Messrs. Bernt, Balchen and Dean Smith as pilots. The small steamer Chelsea is now being reconditioned at New York. She will carry the aeronautical equip ment. rfc IK A r|- -)- -I- -,- -1- -1- -|- -> -1-
