“GROSS DISCOURTESY”
AMERICA TOWARD BRITAIN ITALIAN PAPERS’ ATTACK (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) Times Cable. LpNDON, Wednesday. The Rome correspondent of “The Times” says the Italian newspapers refer to the action of the United States Government in concluding a treaty with Egypt without qpnsulting ihe British Government. They describe it as gross discourtesy and scandalous impertinence. America’s action, say the papers, can only be construed as a deliberate attempt to humiliate Britain. It is yet another incident in the great Anglo-American duel, they remark, and it proves that the renunciation of war as an instrument of national policy does not, in American eyes, imply the complete renunciation of any consequent Imperial policy.
