COMPARISON OF COSTS USE OF FIGURES SUPPLIED* FROM AUCKLAND Press Association. WELLINGTON. Wednesday. At a meeting of the Suburban Highways Board, the Mayor o Wellington. Mr. G. A. Troup, took exception to the publication of a comparison between the cost o concrete at Auckland and bitumen at Wellington. In fairness it should have beet stated, he said, that the widening ana reerading of the roads concerned baa been included in the costs mentioned and that these had accounted for e per cent, of those costs. It was dim cult to make a comparison between costs in one place and those in other, unless all the factors were ve . definitely stated. ... Cr. Bennett said he was responsibly for the publication, and denied tnai it had anything to do with the board The Mayor had no right to refer it. he said. . , The Mayor replied rhat as chairo of the board he also had obtained ures from Auckland.
