WILLIAMSON OPERA MAY YET COME

“JT is not yet certain whether

or not the Williamson-Melba Grand Opera Company, which is now near the end of its Australian tour, will visit New Zealand/' Mr. Bert Royle, New Zealand manager for J. C. Williamson, Ltd., recently announced. Mt. Royle gave the assurance that he was doing his best to get the company over to New Zealand, and the tour was now being considered by the Australian principals of the firm. The Williamson-Melba Company is the strongest and most costly that has ever left 'taly, headed as it is by such stars as Toti dal Monte, Apollo Granforte, Francesco Merli, G. Aran-gi-Lombardi, and Augusto Beuf. A tour of New Zealand would be most expensive; in fact, it is doubtful whether it could ever be made to pay.
