MUSIC AT TOWN HALL

MUNICIPAL CONCERT The principal piece on the programme at the municipal concert in the Town Hall last evening was the famous “Tannhauser Overture,” which was player by the Municipal Band, under the conductorship of Mr. Christopher Smith. Another Wagner composition, “The Flying Dutchman.” was also played by the band, as well a.s Safroni’s march, “Our Fleet,’ a Waldteufel waltz, “Tout Paris,” and a Sousa suite, “At the King’s Court.” Selections from Tschaikowsky’s works were played, including the finale from the “1812 Overture.” A cornet solo was given by Air. Fred Bowes, “II Bacio,” by and Mr. H. McLennan played two flute solos, “Grace et Coquetterie,” by Kohler, and “Nightingale and the Frogs,” by Eilenberg. Aliss Sarah Stagpoole, soprano, sang" “O Flower of All the World,” by Finden, “Beloved, it is Morn,” by Aylward, and “By the Blue River,” by Conigsby-Clarke. There were many encores during the evening.
