NEW PROGRAMME TO-NIGHT “The Silver Slave” is the title of the picture heading the programme to be presented at the Lyric Theatre this evening, with Irene Rich in the lead-

This she does with such success that her daughter furiously denounces her until she understands the reason. f In the cast are Audrey Ferris, who plays the errant daughter, John Miljan, Holmes Herbert and Carrol Nye. In addition to its unusual handling of a difficult situation the play has a diverting and colourful “Background of modern society. “THE BLOOD SHIP” AT EDENDALE An exciting drama of the sea, “The Blood Ship,” will be shown at the Edendale Theatre again this evening. The cast includes Hobart Bosworth as “Newman,” Richard Arlen as “Shreue” and Jacqueline Logan. One day, while “The Blood Ship” was berthed at San Francisco, there arrived at “The Knitting Swede’s,” a lodging house for sailors, a man who asked where Captain Swope could be found. This was Newman, who had been betrayed by Swope years before, the latter having run off with Newman’s wife and baby daughter. Also interested in the “Golden Bough,” but for a different reason, is John Shreve, a young sailor lad who seeks to enlist on the vessel because he wants to be near Mary, believed by all to be Captain Swope’s daughter, but in reality Newman’s child, grown to woman’s estate. “Silk Legs,” a romantic comedy of commercial travellers, will also be shown, starring Madge Bellamy. Ramon Novarro at the age of eight —this is the role that the Metro-Gold wyn-Mayer studios searched for weeks to fill before little. Philippe de Lacy was chosen for the role. Philippe de Lacy is said to be extremely like the actor’s photograph taken when he was at this age, and h© plays Mr. Novarro’s role of the prince as a boy in “The Student Prince,” a screen version of the famous musical comedy. Norma Shearer shares the starring honours with Nova-rro.
