ROTORUA TRAGEDY
WOMAN DIES FROM EXPOSURE EVIDENCE AT INQUEST (Special to THE SUN) ROTORTJA, Wednesday. The adjourned inquest was held today regarding the death of Mrs. Mary Bolt, of Rotorua, whose body was found in the Government gardens On July 18. George Bolt, motor mechanic, said his wife had been unwell for some time past. On July 17, when he returned home from work, his wife was apparently in her usual health. After tea he missed her. He failed to find her. He then got a motor-car and searched the town and gardens, without success. He informed the police. Witness’s opinion was that his wife, in a fit of absent-mindedness, went out and lost herself, and the night being exceptionally cold, died from exposure. She had never at any time threatened to do away with herself. Mr. F. H. Dodd said he found the body of Mrs. Bolt lying on the footpath. Dr. S. H. Hay said he, with Dr. Bertram, held a post-mortem examination. In his opinion, the cause of death was exhaustion through exposure, deceased being in a debilitated condition, and it being an infensly cold night. The coroner, Mr. S. L. Paterson, gave a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence.
