General Upward Movement

SEVERAL shares reached m twenty-four hours. The securities is very firm, witl recorded. The market for Ban is in particularly strong tone. Almost every day recently has seen the market for some scrip in the banking group reach new high levels. Unions of Australia at £ls ss, and New Zealands at 61s 3d, both show an appreciable advance on their cum div. price. New South Wales improved 5s this morning to see a sale outside the room at £SO 10s. South British shares are active in the insurance group at 635. Is 6d above their market of over a week ago, when the last recorded sale was made. New Zealands show a further advance and sales are recorded at 43s 9d. Kaiapoi Woollens, in anticipation of the balance sheet disclosing an improved financial position, continue to register a hardening tendency. Sales are recorded at 12s 6d. compared with 11s 6d earlier in the week. In the miscellaneous section, Whittome Stevensons show the biggest movement, the market advancing to 50s. Wilsons Cements are very firm. Dominion Pictures are active at 22s for the ordinaries.
