LAND TAKEN BY COUNCIL
SECTIONS AT CHELTENHAM Hearing of the first series of can* pensation claims was concluded in lb* Supreme Court yesterday before Mr. Justice Blair. Associated with hia were the Hon. E. W. Alison, assessor .for the claimants, and Mr. T. for the respondent, the Devonpcr. Borough Council. Mr. V. R. Meredith appeared for the claimants. Mr. E. J. Prendergast, for the council, contended that what the claimants were losing was almost waste land. The Court awarded the follotrinr amounts, the sum asked being in parentheses: Abraham Harry Rass.e (£720), £433 Cs Bd, plus 433/1,300 ol the rates; Esther Wintour (£7J*h, £424 15s, plus 424/1,450 of the rates Victor Donald Joy Grahame (£675). £424 15s, plus 424/1.300 of the rate.' Olive Constance-Johnston (£6WM, £357 13s, plus 3577/1,200 of the rat**.
