KITCHEN EVENING

FOR BRIDE-ELECT A kitchen evening was held at the residence of Mrs. Anderson, Norana Avenue, Remuera, last Saturday, in honour of Miss May Edwards. Mrs. Anderson received her guests wearing a % frock'" of navy blue crepe de chine. Miss Edwards wore tangerine satin. Among those present were: Miss J. Ward, black charmeuse. Miss T. Hartley, black velvet red crepe de chine'Miss A. Anderson, leaf-green crepe de chine and black Spanish shawl. Miss M. Ward*, black georgette, with rose applique. Miss M. Gordon, coral georgette and lace. Miss M. Anderson, floral georgette frock. Miss L. Ward, autumn-tinted crepe de chine. Some enjoyable musical and humorous items were given by Messrs. Holloway and Eirie, the rest of the evening being spent in dancing and in games. WEDDING BELLS CULLEN—WALTERS The marriage of Ethel May. eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Waiters ,of Mount Albert, to Wellesley Marsden, youngest son of Mr. Cullen, of Hamilton, was celebrated on Saturday afternoon last at the Beresford Street Congregational Church. The Rev. L. B. Fletcher officiated. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father, had chosen a frock of white georgette trimmed with Silver lace over an underdress of satin. Her veil of brussels lace was held in place by a cluster of orange blossom over each ear, and she carried bouquet of white flowers. Miss Lolly and Miss Lily Walters? sisters of the bride, were in attendance as bridesmaids, wearing frocks of georgette and satin, the former in mauve and the latter in coral pink. Both wore head-bands of satin to match, and carried posies of violets and maidenhair fern. Mr. R. Rayner attended % the bridegroom as best man, and Mr. J. Kendall was groomsman ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Rowena Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Kenkin, of Remuera, to Edward Henry, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. 11. W. C. Mackintosh, of Wellington.
