PAPAKURA CARNIVAL
DANCING AND CARDS FOR COUNTRY QUEEN An enjoyable dance and card evening- was held in the Karaka Hall on Saturday in aid of the country queen in connection with the Catholic carnival. The hall was very attractively decorated with greenery and flowers. The winners of a Monte Carlo waltz competition were IVliss A. Lever and Mr. Fahey, Bombay. Mrs. Colquhoun wsn the first prize in the euchre tournament and Mr, Geraghty secured th.e men s m-ize. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs. R. Humphreys and Mr. Tom Burgess. Mrs. E. W. Greenwood provided very excellent dance music, extras being- played by Miss Irene Williams, of Auckland. The M.CVs were Messrs. W. Headrey and R.. Egan. Among those present were:-—• Mrs. R. Humphreys, black satin grenadme Mrs. MeCorkindale, Avondale, frock of white silk voile. Mrs. F. P. Laing, opal blue repp ensemble. Mrs. Lindesay, black charmeuse frock. Nils. L. Little, Auckland, brown satin and fawn lace. Mrs. Les Grant, pink crepe de chine, and paisley shawl. Mrs. F. Parker, nankin blye georgette. Mrs. W. J. Robinson, maroon dress and sequined shawl. Mrs. Jolly, black crepe de chine, with sequin trimming. Mi's. J. Wright, black silk embroidered in cream. Mrs. Egan, blue silk relieved with lace. Mrs. T. G. Smith, black crepe, embroidered in cherry red. Mrs. T. Fitzpatrick, black silk crepe frock. Mrs. Geraghty. midnight blue frock. Miss J. Walker, floral frock of georgette. Mrs. K. Fitzpatrick, champagne shot taffeta, with diamante. f Mass M. Egan, vieux rose georgette Miss P. Harrison, rose pink crepe ue chine. Miss K. Robinson, mist blue crepe de chine and Spanish shawl. Miss R. Geraghty, black crepe de chine, with autumn tints. Nliss D. Laing, leaf-green crepe de chine, with cream lace. Nliss E. S. Lever, creme ninon over satin, and creme shawl. Nliss A. I. Lever, old gold panne velvet, relieved with silver.
