Healthy Tone on ’Change
LOAN & MERCANTILE SELLING
THE market lias a brighter tone and. considerable business lias been recorded. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile, both ordinary and preference stocks, are keenly sought after; a sale has been reported in the former at £lll.
All bank securities are firm, Bank of Australasia are quoted buyers £l4 17s 6d, sellers £ls 2s 6d. Commercial of Australia are -in demand, a sale being reported U«st evening at ?:• s 9d. Bank of \'ew South Wales are steady, while Unions of Australia nave many buyers at £ls 2s 6d, with no shares offering. Coal sharas are still in demand. Hikurangi remain firm. Pukemiro has a consistent buyer at 68s 6d, no sellers appearing. Taupiri is also firm. Renown has buyers at 7s, sellers 13s. Timber scrip is improving, and buyers have appeared for the five principal companies. Kauris have advanced to buyers 20s 6d, sellers 21s Sd. Parker-Lamb has a steady buyer at 17s fid, no shares offering. Colonial Sugar is steadily improving, buyers quoting at £59 19s, with no sellers.
Wailii shares still maintain good figures, and business has been recorded this morning- at 12s lid. All Government and local body debentures are in demand, with few sellers. Yesterday afternoon’s business: On ’Change—New Zealand Brewery debentures, £ 1 4s. Reported—Commercial Bank of Australia (ord.), £1 10s Od; New Zealand Refrigerating fcoii.;. 9s 2d; New Zealand Inscribed Stock, 1936, 5 1 per cent., £lOl 2s 6d. Business at this morning’s early call: On 'Change—Waihi Gold Mining Company, 12s lid. Reported—New Zealand Loan and Mercantile (ord.), £lll. Business at to-day’s mid-day call: Reported—Huddart-Parker, £2 9s 6d; Donaghy’s Rope and Twine, £1 13s; New Zealand Government War Loan, 1933, 5i per cent., £lOl ss.
