CHUTE TO A SAFE
NEW BANKING DEVICE AFTER-HOURS DEPOSITS British Official Wireless. RUGBY, Sunday. An automatic receiving safe, which will enable traders and managers of theatres, cinemas and restaurants, who conduct business after the usual local banking hours to deposit money at any hour, has been installed at one suburban branch of tbe Midland Bank. Similar safes are being constructed at. other branches. Access to the safe is gained by a small revolving door in the outside wall of the bank, the door being controlled by a special key provided by the bank. The customer is also furnished with a leather wallet in which he places his cash and cheques. The customer places the wallet on a small platform, which rotates as the door is closed, thus permitting the wallet to travel by way of a chute into the safe.
