NOTES Mrs. C. Purdar, of Wellington, is | staying at the Star Hotel. Mrs. A. McNeur, of Milton. Otago, is j paying a visit to Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Archibald Clark will j leave for England next week. Miss Kathleen Gordon, of Hamilton, ; is spending the vacation in Auckland. Miss Jane Marshall, of Wanganui, is the guest of Miss Gwen Fullerton, Orakei Road. Miss Jean Begg, of Auckland, is in Hamilton, where she is the guest of Mrs. J. Prentice. Mrs. Isdale, of Ngaruawahia, left for her home to-day after spending a few days in Auckland. Captain and Mrs. Hooper left Auckland by the Limited express for Wellington last evening. Mrs. C. W. Coleman, of Ellerslie, has returned to town after spending a holiday in Wellington. Mr. It. C. Kelley, accompanied by Miss P. Kelley, left for Sydney by the Marama on Friday. Mrs. C. Macindoe, of “Ayala,” Westbourne Road, has returned home after visiting Havelock North. Mrs. A. Duffin and Miss Thelma Duffin have left for Rotorua. Later they will be the guests of Mrs. J. Calder, Malvern, Ilinuera. * * * Mrs. M. Brook, of Epsom, is spending a holiday at Rotorua. She is accompanied by her grandson, Master Jack 1-lulbert. and Miss PI. Brook. Guests at the Royal Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. W. .T. Miller, of Putaruru, Mr. and Mrs. Helming, of Wellington, and Miss G. K. Wliishan, of Rangitana. ORANGE BLOSSOMS CHAPPELL—PARSONS Wearing a charming dress of white crepe de chine, with panels of radium lace and pearl embroidery, Louisa May, the fourth daughter of Mr. and Mrs. B. G. Parsons, of London, England, was married to Allan Plopetoun, second son of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Chappell, of Kokakoriki, Taumarunui, at the Anglican Church, Taumarunui. The ceremony was performed by the vicar, the Rev. Mr. Skey. The bride was given away by Mr. D. H. Hannah. She carried a bouquet of spring flowers and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid was Miss Mabel Hobbs, of Retaruke, Wanganui River, who wore a dainty dress of mauve crepe de chine and a mauve hat. Her bouquet was also of spring blooms and maidenhair fern. Mr. Herbert Chappell, of Kokakoriki, was best man. After the ceremony a wedding supper was held at Mrs. Murray’s tea rooms, when Mrs. Chappell received her numerous guests in a becoming dress of navy crepe de chine, with blue hat and ospreys. Mr. and Mrs. Chappell are spending their honeymoon at Rotorua, the bride travelling in a navy blue repp costume with red trimmings, and hat of black velvet. BAKER—WARD The Onehunga Presbyterian Church was the scene on Saturday last of the wedding of Dorothy, daughter of Mrs. and the late Mr. Ward, of Auckland, to Norman, third son of Mr. and Mrs. Baker, of Manukau Road, Epsom. The Rev. D. D. Scott performed the ceremony. The bride entered the church on the arm of her uncle. Mr. Bailey. Her frock of ivory satin charmeuse was fashioned with a close-fitting waist and bouffant skirt finished with a deep hem of silver lace outlined with pearls. A veil of honiton lace was caught to the head with a coronet of orange blossom, and she carried a floral bouquet of pale pink and white flowers. Mrs. A. Scarborough, sister of the bride, attended as matron of honour wearing a frock of pink satin charmeuse with a petalled skirt trimmed with pale pink and blue lame. A shower bouquet of pink and blue flowers was carried. A little flower-girl was Betty Scarborough. Her frock was of mauve made in petals, and she wore a mauve and pink head-dress of lame. She carried a posy of anemones and violets. Mr. A. E. G. Watts attended as best man. PLUNKET SOCIETY TAUMARUNUI BRANCH Mrs. A. W. Richter was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Taumarunui Plunket Society Executive, at which there were present Mesdames Simmons, Keller, Kinnell, Johnson Mclsaac, Wackrow, McLennan, C. P. Smith, Perry, L. S. Ford and Miss Burnand. Apologies were received from Mesdames Barker, R. Smith, Seaton, King, Godfrey, Anderson, Stanton, and Jefferson. The report of the nurse, Miss J. Worthington, disclosed a satisfactory position. There had been a total of -29 visits made to the office, and 107 to homes, in connection with the nurse’s work. A letter was reecived from Miss Worthington tendering her resignation of the position of Plunket Nurse. A letter was received from Sir Truby King asking the branch to send a delegate to the annual conference, but it was decided with regret that a delegate could not be sent this year. It was reported that during the month Mrs. McLennan had handed in a sum of £l7 8s 6d to the funds, being the proceeds of a dance held at Taringamotu. A further creditable amount accrued from the Taumarunui Savage Club concert.
