Waters, of Dunedin, are staying at the Star Hotel. Mrs. Hugh Miller, of Morrinsville, left with her two daughters on Saturday to spend the school vacation with th era in Tauranga. WEDDING CHIMES j HOLLIER—ROTHWELL | An exceptionally pretty wedding | was celebrated at St. Peter’s Anglican i Cathedral, in Hamilton, last week, when Alice Maud, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. G. Roth well, of Glen View, Whatawhata, was married to Ilarley Bruce, second son of Mr. B. Hollier, of Gisborne. The Rev. Archdeacon Cowie performed the ceremony. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an exquisite frock of shell pink georgette and silver lame. The train of silver tissue was lined with shell pink and ruclied with georgette and silver lace. Her long tulle veil was held in position with clusters of orange blossom at each side. She carried a bouquet of pink sweet peas, primroses and maidenhair. The chief bridesmaid, Miss Rewa Joll, wore delicate lavender georgette, embroidered in mauve and pink. Her dead-dress was of silver tissue with mauve and pink flowers, and her bouquet of mauve and pink sweet peas, primroses and maidenhair. The second bridesmaid, Miss Wyn Nair, was in peach and nile green georgette, embroidered in silver with a head-dress of silver tissue. Miss Gladys Johnstone and Miss Wyn Roth well, sister of the bride, were | flower-girls. Miss Johnstone’s frock of nile green was petalled and embroidered in palest pink and mauve. Miss Rothwell was in lime georgette with apple green and rosebud trimming. Both girls wore silver tissue head-dresses and carried bouquets of sweet peas, primroses and fern. Two little girls, Shirley Laxon and Gwen Rothwell, the bride’s cousin, were in picturesque little frocks of briar rose petalled georgette, with flowers of mauve and pink, and silver lace caps. The best man was Mr. S. Hollier, and the groomsman Mr. Frank Rothwell. Later, Mrs. Rothwell, who was in a J becoming frock of japonica pink crepe do chine, entertained about SO guests |at a reception in the Wattle Tea j Rooms, which had been decorated in pale pink roses, sweet peas, maiden- ! hair and a large wedding bell. After ; the reception Mr. and Mrs. Hollier left i for Russell, Mrs. Hollier travelling in a charming ensemble of old rose marocain and delphinium blue coat and hat. Their future home will be at Waitoa. HOCKEY DANCE AT PAPAKURA | The Parish Hall, Papakura, was the ! scene of a very gay dance given by the | Papakura Girls’ Hockey Club on Satj urday evening. There was a large at- ! tendance of members and their friends. ! The hall was decorated with streamers in the club’s colours of red and white. During the evening a waltzing competition was won by Mr. R. Richardson and Miss G. Andreason. Mr. George Aitcheson was the judge. A Monte Carlo was won by Miss M. Andrew and Mr. M. Little. Mr. W. Grant was the M.C., and Miss Lily Grant played delightful jazz music. Among those present were: Mrs. W. Grant, flame satin, with silver lace trimmings. Mrs. G. Aitcheson, ecru lace over sunset silk. Mrs. Haughey, rose pink faille and ecru lace. Mrs. F. Scott, green georgette, with sequin trimmings. Mrs. D. Bilkey, sage green crepe de chine. Mrs. Aitcheson, salmon slip .with floral overdress. Miss S. Andre, cyclamen ninon frock. Miss i. Searle, phlox pink crepe de chine.. Miss E. Andrews, chartreuse green ninon. Miss G. Andreason, black ring velvet and red roses. Miss M. Andrews, geranium red satin crepe. Miss B. Arbuckle, shell pink satin, with lace overdress. Miss J. Mofiltt, pansy satin beaute frock. Miss Steele, gold marocain frock. Miss R. Steele, salmon pink crepe de chine. Miss J. Milne, black satin and green rose trimming. Miss N. Tuckey, sea green shot taffeta. ' Miss R. Dryland, heliotrope frock of taffeta. Miss E. Denis, peacock green georgette. Miss D. Martin, black crepe de chine. Miss D. Nicholson, lacquer red silk jumper, with white silk skirt. Miss Barnott, cherry red marocain and georgette. Miss Wrathen, rose pink taffeta and georgette. Miss Hansen, black chiffon velvet frock. Miss G. I-toss, black taffeta, with silver trimmings. ENGAGEMENTS The engagement is announced of Dulcio May, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Brookes, “Tui Glen,” Henderson, to Eric Hadreaji, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Betts, Rocklands Avenue, Mount Eden. The engagement is announced of Kathleen Muriel, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Elliott, Mangore Road, Otahuhu. to William Raymond, eldest son of Mr. and the late Mrs. E. Fell, Southbridge, Christchurch.
