W.E.A. HOLDS MONTHLY SOCIAL

The monthly social of the Workers’ Educational Association was held in the old Grammar School buildings on Saturday evening, over 100 members being present. Mr. J. W. Shaw, M.A., presided, and during the evening songs were given by Mrs. Salisbury Sykes and Mr. Arthur Wright, and violin solos were played by Miss Hodge. Miss Lush and Messrs. Linsey and Murray, members of the dramatic class, produced the one-act Scottish play, “The Philosophy of Butter Biggins,” by Harold Chapin, which was received with much applause. A phonetic spelling competition was held in which prizes were awarded to the man and woman who discovered how to spell certain words with the least number of letters.
