• ENTOMOLOGISTS MEET PAPERS BY DR. TILLYARD (United P.A. — by Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) NEW YORK, Tuesday. The largest international entomological conference in the history of that science has been opened at Ithaca, New York with an attendance of 1,000 experts from all parts of the. world. The Australian representatives include Er. R. J. Tillyard, Commonwealth entomologist, formerly of New Zealand. The most important section of the congress is that of economic entomology, which deals with field crop insects, citrus frui: and deciduous fruf insects, and insecticides. Dr. Till yard will give twc addresses, on inseci control of noxious weeds, and the evolution of dragonflies. Er. Iceland Howard, the head of the Bureau of Entomology, Ecpartment of Agriculture, Washington, in his presidential address stressed the growing importance of entomology in agriculture and in the welfare of all civilised peoples.
