H. T. Merritt, president of the Chamber of Commerce, who has recovered from a short illness, is going South to-morrow. Mr. Dynes Fulton, chairman of directors of the New Zealand Co-opera-tive Dairy Company, left for the South by the Limited last evening. Mr. G. E. Bunting, Australian and New Zealand manager for the Canadian National Railways, left for Wellington by the Limited last evening. Mr. Leon Gordon and the members of his company left Auckland last evening for Timaru, where they will play a short season before going on to Dunedin. Dr. A. Murray Drennan, Professor of Pathology at the University of Otago, has been asked to accept a position in one of the Irish universities similar to that -which he now holds. Mr. H. E. Stephens, who went to England last September to act as representative of the New Zealand Fruit Control Board in London, has been offered the appointment for a further period of two years. The Rev. S. L. Boot, of No.rthcpte, who was to have sailed for Sydney by the Marama to-morrow to take up his new work at Balranald, has postponed his departure owing to the illness of Mrs. Boot. Dr. W. Gilmour, pathologist at the Auckland Hospital, has returned from Great Britain after nine months’ absence. He spent the greater part of the time with relatives near Glasgow. He was accompanied by Mrs. Gilmour. Sir E. Owen Cox, C.8.E., chairman of Birt and Co., Ltd., and director in Australia for the Federal Steam Navigation Company, arrived in Wellington from London by the Remuera and will leave for Sydney by the Maheno today.
