HAURAKI ODDFELLOWS VISIT BY GRAND MASTER The remarkable growth of Manchester Unity Oddfellowship on the Hauraki Plains was demonstrated on Tuesday evening, at Netherton, on the occasion of the official visit of the Auckland District Grand Master, Bro. Walter Gubb, of Tuakau. The lodge was opened in due form by N.G. Bro. F. T. V. Johnson, assisted by V.G. Bro. H. Wright and officers. The visiting lodges were then admitted, followed by the guest of honour. Over one hundred and twenty members were present. Two new members were initiated into the order. The District Grand Master, in his address, emphasised the “helping hand” principle of Oddfellowship in its true light as fraternal brotherhood. An intimation by the Kerepeehi Lodge that a movement to establish a new lodge at Patetonga on the Plains was receiving support, was a subject of keen interest. The address of welcome to the visitors was responded to by the representatives of lodges: Loyal Thames Lodge, N.G. Bro. J. A. Briggs; Loyal Waitekauri and Golden Cross Lodge (Waikino), P.G. Bro. D. Currie (Pres. T.V. Past Grands’ Lodge) ; Loyal Kerepeehi Lodge, P.G. Bro. J. Glasgow; Loyal Jubilee Lodge (Paeroa), N.G. Bro. K. L. Slyfield, P.G. Following the meeting, an entertainment drew the keen interest of the large crowd until supper, after which the hall was cleared and an enjoyable dance held. The meeting was the largest of its kind held in the Thames Valley or Hauraki Plains for some time past. * * * The result of the recent Herb.
