“THE BUSH CINDERELLA”

PRIVATE SHOWING THIS MORNING A SPLENDID PICTURE That New Zealand can make flltc. of a high entertainment and artistic standard was well demonstrated this morning when the first private showing was given of “The Bush Cinderella., the film which was recently made ic New Zealand by Mr. Kudall Hayward and stars Miss Dale Austen (Miss New Zealand).

With no elaborate sets, “The Bust Cinderella” is a charming picture of the peaceful New Zealand countryside

and the life f a typical backblock settler. Dramatic moments it has in plenty and the suspense is excellently maintained right to the very end of the story. In Dale Austen, who plays the role of the Cinderella, and in Mr. Cecil Scott. who

gives an excellent portrayal of Lieutenant Neal Harrison, R.N., the chief romantic figures. New Zealand has screen types of the right kind. The fact that one recognises many of the scenes taken in and around Auckland does not detract from the value of the picture in the least, bn: adds to the interest. The beautiful scenes taken on the Waitemata Harbour are a delight in themselves. The backblock homestead, with its poverty, and the walls covered with

pictures from weekly illustrated papers is absolutely lifelike and coni: never have been made anywhere but in New Zealand. Most artistic sub-titles are provided and the photography and settings almost ideal.
