MUNICIPAL CONCERT

FINE PROGRAMME Only a small number of people attended the municipal concert in the Town Hall last evening. The city organist, Mr. Maughan Barnett, and Mr. Birrell O’Malley presented a fine programme, which was much appreciated. Mr. Barnett's items included: Concerto, No. 1 (Bach): Prelude. Fugue and Variation in B minor (Cesar Franck), “Traumerei” (Schumann), variations on “Where the Bee Sucks" (Arne-Benedict); "In the Halls of the Mountain King” (Greig); and Sonata, No. 4 (Mendelssohn). Mr. O’Malley’s songs included “I Heard You .Singing” (Coates); and “O Sole Mio” (Di Capua).
