FARMERS AND TARIFF
PROPOSED PUBLIC MEETING With the object of putting the farmers’ viewpoint on the question of the alleged evils of protection before the city dwellers, the Auckland executive of the New Zealand Farmers’ Union last evening considered the question of holding a public meeting in the Town Hall at an early date. It was suggested that the services of one of the Southern university professors be secured to give an address. It was decided that a committee be set up to investigate the possibility of holding a public meeting in the Town Hall, when an address would be given showing alleged evil effects of the present system of protective tariff on the Dominion’s prosperity.
