MAXEGIN WINS AGAIN

THE New Zealand Metropolitan Tnetting Club’s carnival was continued to-day in the presence of a splendid attendance. The weather was rough and as a result of the rain the track was holding - . Results:—

IMPROVERS’ HANDICAP Of £300; It miles. 3.34 Limit. 7 MAXEGIN, 72yds, B. Jarden .. .. 1 9—LOUISIANA, limit 2 3—KERR WOOD BELL, 4Syds 3 Scratched.—Sea Queen. Won by three lengths. Time, 3.35 1-5. Maxegin a Good One Louisiana led out from Merry Bingen, Katute, Young Carbine and Nelson Boy. Going to the far turn Nelson Boy was in front with Merry Bingen, Louisiana and Lady Fan following in that order. Passing the stand Nelson Boy still held the command, racing just clear of Louisiana, Maxegin, Nelson McKinney, Merry Bingen and Kerrwood Bell. Going along the back Louisiana went to the front with Maxegin, Nelson Boy, Merry Bingen and Kerrwood Bell as his nearest attendants. Rounding the bend Louisiana and Maxegin drew away from their opponents, Maxegin winning by a length and a-half from Louisiana, with Kerrwood Bell three lengths back. Tamerlane was fourth. Times: 3.35 I- 3.41 4-5. 3.39. DASH HANDICAP (Saddle) Of £300; 1 mile. 2.14 Limit. I—KING POINTER, limit. M. Holmes 1 ll GENERAL BINGEN, limit 2 7—NANTWICH, limit 3 Scratched.—Shine Soon. Won by two lengths. Time, 2.17 2-5. King Pointer Easily Tommy Direct led from Okoura, General Bingen, King Pointer, Nantwich and Loch Moigh. Going along the the back General Bingen took charge and led into the straight with Tommy Direct, Nantwich, King Pointer and Loch Moigh racing in close order. Once in line for home King Pointer soon accounted for General Bingen and went on to win comfortably by two lengths’. General Bingen beat Nantwich by three-quarters of a length, with Loch Moigh fourth. Times: 2.17 2-5, 2.17 4-5, 2.18.

KING GEORGE HANDICAP Of £ 1,000;. 2 miles; 4.29 limit. 2—GOLD JACKET. limit. A. Bryce 1 7—ZENITH, limit 2 S—DAPHNE 1)E ORO 3 12—TALENT 4 Scratched: Quality, Machine Gun, Terence Dillon, Great Bingen. Won- by three lengths. Time, 4.44 4-5. Gold Jacket's Fine Win Gold Jacket was first away and at the end of a furlooig Zenith went into the lead with Gold Jacket, Talent, Peter Bingen, Tom Thumb, Daphne Do Oro and Loganwood racing in that order. There was no change until getting to the mile and three-quarters disc. Here Gold Jacket ranged alongside Zenith, the pair hieing two lengths clear of Talent and Pester Bingen, with Daphne De O.ro doing the best of the others. In the run home Gold Jacket outstayed Zenith, to win easily by two lengths from Zenith, who finished four lengths in front of Daphne De Oro. Talent was fourth. BELGIUM HANDICAP Of £400; 2 miles, 4.40 limit. 10—HARVEST CHILD, limit 1 I—KINGS CRAFT, limit 2 4—MATE O’ MINE 3 Scr.: Firpo. Won by half a length. Time, 4.56.
