WEEK-END RESULTS TAREHA WINS AT DANNEVIRKE (Special to THE SUN) DANNEVIRKE, Saturday. In glorious weather to-day Kapi Tareha, Napier, won the Southern Hawke’s Bay golf championship, defeating Harold Black, Wellington, 9 up and 8 to play in the final over 36 holes. Tareha completely outplayed his opponent. AUCKLAND RESULTS The following were the best scores returned in Auckland and provincial golf events on Saturday: Auckland.—Medal foursomes: C. Towle and V. E. J. Wells, 83 —15, 6S; W. S. Ralph and W. B. Colbeck, 7S—5, 73; E. L. Bartleet and D. MacCormick, SO —5, 75; H. P. Richmond and J. F. Ewen, 90—13, 77. One Tree Hill. —Medal: Under 16 handicap—J. W. In the junior championship competition, Jerram defeated White, 3 and 2; Barriball defeated Munro, 2 and 1; McCarthy defeated Barker, 4 and 3. The Crane handicap competition was won by Colbeck, who beat Ducker in the final, 2 up. In the second round for the ladies’ championship, Mrs. Forbes defeated Miss Glynes, 4 and 3; Miss Barriball defeated Miss Austin, 4 and 3; Miss Muir defeated Mrs. Ohlson, 4 and 3; Mrs. Christianson defeated Mrs. Harkness, 4 and 3. In the semi-finals, Miss Barriball defeated Mrs. torbes, 1 up. In the final Miss Barriball will play the winner of the match between Mrs. Christianson and Miss Muir. Pukekohe. Tauranga.—ln the first round of the Tauranga senior championship, Matheson defeated Rodgers, 6 up and 5; Roche defeated Ralfe, 3 and 2; Gibbs defeated Pott, 2 up; Hetherington defeated Renshaw, 4 and 3. In the first round of the junior championship J. Guiness defeated Watkinson at the 20th hole; Lewis defeated Ibbetson, 4 and 3; Hanna defeated Simmonds, 3 and 2; Gifford defeated Patterson, 1 up. Two challenges have recently been played in the four-ball competition. Bryan and Ralfe successfully resisted a challenge by Roche and Gibbs, and -Gifford and Lewis won the junior challenge buttons from S. Guinness and Simmonds on the 18th green.
